Third from the Sun: Geographical Features as Seen from Space

Description

This resource is part of the Science Education Gateway (SEGway) project, funded by NASA, which is a national consortium of scientists, museums, and educators working together to bring the latest science to students, teachers, and the general public. Students learn about the history of Earth imaging, and the LANDSAT satellite program. They read illustrated pages about the history and development of remote sensing, what LANDSAT is and what it does, and how to read and interpret remotely sensed images. A game that involves inferring the subjects of various landsat images develops interpretation skills. A teacher's section contains assessment ideas, equipment, and objectives for this lesson.
