"Punkin Chunkin" Quadratic Equations and Projectile Motion

Description

This is a performance task that uses the context of Punkin Chunkin to assess students understanding of quadratic equations and projectile motion. Students are given three sets of team data in the form of a graph, an equation, and a table. They must compare teams' height of pumpkin trajectory, distance of discharge, and tallest catapult a pumpkin was launched from. Methods used to solve the problem include completing the square , using the quadratic formula to find zeros, finding and evaluating a vertex, and unpacking the meaning of coefficients from quadratic equations in standard form.
