Written in Bone: The Secret in the Cellar

Description

This interactive feature inroduces students to a forensic science case based on the actual discovery of a skeleton from the 17th century Tidewater Chesapeake area of Maryland. Using graphics and links to related materials, the feature leads students through an analysis of evidence to uncover details about a lost Colonial-era town and the fate of a nameless teen caught in the life of an indentured servant. By studying the forensic evidence, students reveal the young man's life, his physical health, the indelible marks of heavy and repetitive physical labor, and the physical trauma suffered around the time of death.
